Have you ever wanted someone to write about you?
Or have you
ever wanted to write about yourself?
Even if you
haven't, then writing a diary might still be for you.
Somebody might
just be able to learn something about your life (even if that somebody is you).
Writing a diary might not seem like the most fun thing to do. You
might be worried about your privacy, you might not have the time, or you might
think you live an uninteresting life and writing about it just makes it
unproductive.
Why should you start writing a diary?
You can record your life:
Not everyone is famous. But everyone is unique. Write whatever happened
with you. You are the ever forming product of the events and your reactions to
them
You can brainstorm:
Stuck with a problem?
Can’t share it with anyone? Your diary is ever ready to listen to you.
You can dump your feelings:
No one
wants to talk to you? You can dump all your feelings on it. It will not shoo
you away. Nor will it ignore you. It will take all the pain and makes you feel
lighter.
Your goal tracker:
Write down your
goals. Pin that page on the top. Every time you visit it, it keeps reminding
you of them.
Your health tracker:
Ask it when the last
time you were down with fever or cold was, it will reply immediately.
Your mood tracker:
How many times have
you cried last time? Your brain might lie. But this will present the facts to
you as they are. Nothing to lie. Nothing to feel ashamed of. Truth as it is.
You can fix those mood swings.
Your writing skills improve:
Do you struggle to
express yourself? Over time, you will notice how easy it is to express
yourself. But then you have to start writing first.
Your reflection:
A mirror flaunts only
your outer beauty. A diary shows your inner beauty.
Are those reasons enough for you to try writing a diary?
Yeah! But I don’t know where to start.
How to start writing a diary?
Online/
Offline or Soft copy/ Hard copy:
Decide that first. A lot of people fret over privacy. I suggest Evernote or WordPress private blog for these writers. At the other end of spectrum are the writers who press on writing writing with pen on paper. You can for a diary with lock or lock your diary in a safe place.
Time of the day:
A lot of them
don’t write because they forget or feel tired at the end of the day. So decide
when you want to write. Keep a reminder till it becomes a habit. The best way
to write is whenever you think you want to share something for yourself. Read the
uses of it here.
Now that you have set the basics
in place, you might be wondering what to write.
It is the
easiest diary prompt. At the end of the week, if you are doing the same thing every day, at least for the sake of writing
something interesting in the diary you
will want to change your routine.
Gratitude journal:
Write down
three things for which you are grateful for today. Easy to write. It also
improves happiness in the longer run.
Goals:
Once you are comfortable
with the easy prompts, go a step ahead, discuss with diary your goals. Even ten
years down the line it is going to tell you what goals you have achieved and
what have remained as dreams.
Emotions:
You are sensitive to
your surroundings. At times you react in a way which you should not be actually
reacting. You can trust your diary with that. It will not make you feel guilty.
It will only tell you what to do next time.
You can write about a lot of other things too. Customize to
suit yourself.

Delete"Why you don't write a diary"
ReplyDeleteI don't have free time on all days and i feel i need to know language well
You don't need to know the language for it. You can write it in English or your mother or by combing both. It is just about writing down your thoughts like the way how you express it. If you don't have time, you write short notes all through the day, like how your reply to texts or check notifications on social media. You can refer to this article on more details on how to write. http://www.lensq.com/2016/12/journey-from-journal-to-live-journal.html
